Welcome to my guide on running an RSPS on your Mac. In the guide I will cover the method for running the most common DEOBs for servers from 508 to 569. The first thing you will need is a client to run. I personally use the R--- L---- status page to find the servers I play, but you can get them where ever you want.
Hello, RuneLocus! Seeing as this is my first post on these forums, I decided to take up a subject that is very close to my heart, and that is RSPS'. Now, as inactive as I've always been on forums, I have been playing Private Servers for many years, almost since their conception. The debate must be made, and as one who has played on a vast number of servers, I feel as though I might be the one to light the spark. To start the thread I'd like to start with some RSPS history. I must warn you all that my memory isn't chronologically correct, but the oldest RSPS memory of mine was on the Moparscape client around 2006-2007.
For those who don't know, Moparscape was a webclient that granted you access to thousands of individual servers, and you used to be able to come on RuneLocus and look up server IDs and Port to enter into the Moparscape server. These servers were very primitive and riddled with glitches, and were generally frowned upon by the Runescape community due to their low quality. Soon after, circa. 2007-2008 a similar webclient was released named Silabsoft, using a similar server ID and Port system.
- Alora RSPS - The Best RuneScape Private Server Website Description Alora RSPS is the greatest and largest Oldschool Runescape Private Server, featuring frequent updates, endless content, and thousands of players.
- Tibikra is small but friendly community server with great content. We believe that rsps server's doesn't have to be runescape copy without any single bug we believe that RSPS servers have to be fun and little crazy.
The great thing I remember about the Silabsoft client was being able to access a downloadable client, aswell as it being less laggy, more high quality and less buggy than Moparscape. Fast forward to 2009-2010, private servers were vastly growing in popularity and quality, with most servers boasting their own advanced clients, webclient and downloadable, and servers being challenging and engaging.
Personally, I consider 2008-2010 as being the golden era for Private Servers. The issue around this time was that Jagex was contacting many servers, and threatening legal action, which caused many servers to be shut down, either permanently or temporarily. Anyway, enough with the talking. As an experienced player, here is the best list I could make. Be aware, this list is not only based on player count, but on multiple variables such as: fun factor, community, challenge and quality.
Here is my Top 5 Greatest RSPS' ever list, feel free to post yours. Soulsplit This server is the only one on this list that is relatively new. The reason I chose Soulsplit is because of it's never before seen marketability. Soulsplit contains many, many features and has been adapted to fit any player's style, and was the first real popular servers to use Game Modes. On top of this, Soulsplit has a very professional server, website, forum and demeanor.
Misthalin Kingdom This entry was never extremely popular, but it was a challenging server with a very, very dedicated and tight-nit community that kept it alive and flourishing even if it wasn't in the limelight. BattleScape BattleScape is still at large today, and it's longevity is on of the main reasons it is one of the top servers ever. Years ago, BattleScape was a pking-based server with a dedicated fan base and a challenging xp rate and active community. Even to this day, Palidino continues to maintain a high-quality, relevant server. FrugooScape FrugooScape was a server that didn't take itself too seriously, despite having one of the most challenging XP rates ever on a server (getting a single 99 skills took upwards of 25 hours). Even with it's slow leveling, FrugooScape had one of the largest player bases in RSPS history, reaching 4000 players at once (if I remember correctly).
FrugooScape had many quirks and quarks, which strangely enough only made the game even more fun. Contrary to most serves which usually contain more pkers and skillers, frugooscape had a vast majority of skillers, all competing to reach the top of the High Scores.

Sadly it was a short lived phenomenon. DeltaScape The reason DeltaScape is number 1 on my list is because, in my opinion, it was one the best all-around servers of all time. DeltaScape knew that it's the details that matter. The entire community as a whole was very active, as well as the separate communities, such as the skillers, pkers, stakers and PvMers. There was something for everyone, the experience rate was ideal and the economy was very stable.

In addition, the updates were very consistent, and DeltaScape offered features that many other server's couldn't at the time, such as a custom (yet half decent) construction skill, 63 wave fight caves, 15+ quests, most working minigames (even fishing trawler). DeltaScape knew that it's the details that matter. This list is my own personal opinion, and I welcome anyone else's lists and opinions.
